2014 RAPS Cat Sanctuary Calendar -- in the works!

The 2013 Cat Sanctuary wall calendar was such a success that we will be producing one for 2014!

Fellow sanctuary volunteer Michele Wright and I are going through the best of our best photos taken this year and will be taking a few more over the coming weeks to add to the pool.

Do you have a favourite sanctuary cat that you'd love to see featured in the calendar? Let us know in the comments field for this post. Cats being cats, we can't promise to capture calendar-worthy portraits of all of your requests (we're at the mercy of feline caprice and variable lighting), but we'll see what we can do!

  3. I would like to see Leland, every time I see that cat I want to hug him...
I wish he would get a home, he looks so sad in his picture..

  6. It would be great if you could feature the Leukemia Room cats as part of the calendar. The disease is so brutal, and we can lose them so quickly to its ravages, but in spite of it, the cats of the Leukemia Room have formed their own little community and I think care deeply about one another. Plus, the mere existence of a special, quarantined space at the sanctuary, where FeLV cats can live out their days peaceably, is part of what makes RAPS different than most other shelters. Thank you for considering this request as you compose the 2014 calendar content.

    1. I totally agree as people need to know about these special kitties in the Leukemia Room. My new sponsor kitty Smoochie & of course Mooshey & Butterbean & the others would love a mention in the calendar. How about combining some of the pics so they are shown together? It is a special room with nothing but sweethearts living there. I always go in & give treats & lots of TLC.

    2. I like the idea of featuring a bunch of photos together on one page to honour these special kitties as a group. Thanks so much for the suggestion -- we'll see if we can get enough calendar-quality photos of them to make it work.

  8. Aurora!! She is such a sweet girl, not one to be in the limelight, so this would be a perfect opportunity for her to shine. (Debbie has a few great pictures of her.)

    1. Sure! If you have any high resolution (300 dpi) images you'd like to submit for consideration, please crop them to 2750 x 2125 and email to nekoraps[at]gmail.com with "2014 Cat Sanctuary Calendar" (or similar) in the subject line.

  10. How about "Miss Spitz" as your 2014 Poster Girl? She is one of my sponsors & a prettier cat you will not find. She has come a long way from being taken in as a stray feral. Last year my much loved sponsor kitty "Jasmine" had the honour of being Miss January but sadly has gone to the Rainbow Bridge. 4 PAWS up for "Spitz" ( beautiful calico).
    Thank you,
    Lee (KC)

    1. Great idea! She's very photogenic. No promises that I can actually get a calendar-worthy shot, but I'll try for sure.
