But have you ever wondered just how old your cat is? ...paused when the vet asks for an estimated date of birth to enter into their system? ...wondered on which day you should buy a cake to eat in your pet's honour?

The North Shore Animal League of Port Washington, New York, has declared today the universal birthday for shelter cats, dubbing it CATober 1st.
